Chinese Pioneers: Power and Politics in Exclusion Era Photographs!

Partners: The local exhibit and the associated events are made possible with support largely from California Humanities, a non-profit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Visit calhum.org, and a local collaboration between the Clarke Historical Museum, Humboldt Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity (HAPI), Humboldt County Historical Society, and Humboldt County Library.

Exhibition Description: During the run of the “Chinese Pioneers” exhibit, artifacts connected with Chinese communities in Humboldt and Trinity Counties will be on display at the Clarke, featuring items from the collections of the Clarke Museum, the Humboldt County Historical Society, and the Trinity County Historical Society. Chinese Pioneers is an exhibit by the California Historical Society and is touring through Exhibit Envoy. Institutional support provided by San Francisco Grants for the Arts and Yerba Buena Community Benefit District.
