Opera Together

Arkley Center For The Performing Arts

NPA high school students and members of the San Francisco Opera Guild will be performing together at 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 5th, at the Arkley Center in Eureka (412 G St, Eureka). Doors will open at 6:30 pm. This show is open to the public, with a requested donation of $10-$20 at the door to help support the cost of bringing the program to Humboldt County. All students are welcome to attend at no charge.

“We used to have this event every year before Covid came along,” said NPA Artistic Director, Jean Heard. “Now the singers can travel up to us again, which is extra special because normally they only do this program with schools in the Bay Area. This year, one of our students will be selected to perform in San Francisco with a cast of other students before the season ends!”

Opera Together, formerly known as Opera a la Carte, is an outreach program of the SF Opera Guild. Members of the Guild work with school-age students who have memorized their lines and music in advance to create a memorable performance for the community. This year, the comedic mini-opera on tour is The Elixir of Love by Gaetano Donizetti which tells the story of Nemorino, a timid young waiter who lacks money, confidence and hope. He gambles everything for a chance at an intoxicating romance with the alluring and unobtainable Adina. Please plan to join us for a night of Opera Together!
