“ORFEO” (Italy, 2026) encore screening
The Miniplex at Richards’ Goat Tavern
“A decidedly original work of art that recalls the decadent opulence of Dario Argento but also the esoterism of Maya Deren or Kenneth Anger, ORFEO delves into the heart of cinema.” -Cineuropa
Our Arthouse Theater Day screening sold out, so we’ve added an encore screening of “ORFEO” for those who couldn’t get tickets! In a world of AI slop, this new feature film from one of Italy’s most exciting new voices defiantly combines 16mm analog cinematography, handcrafted sets, meticulous stop-motion animation, and vintage style in-camera optical effects for “a whimsical, refreshing sense of lighthearted experimentation bolstered by seasoned craftsmanship.” -In Review Online. An adaptation of Dino Buzzati’s 1969 graphic novel Poema a fumetti, a reworking of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth set in a highly stylized 1960s Milan. All Ages, but not recommended for small children.
