Oyster History Talk + Oysters!
Oysters + Cider + Author and Naturalist David George Gordon will give a talk about his updated book, Heaven on the Half Shell, published by the University of Washington Press in partnership with Washington Sea Grant. The book is a thoroughly researched history of the Pacific Northwest oyster. Starting with the earliest evidence of sea gardens and clam beds from 11,500 years ago, this book covers the history of oyster cultivation through contemporary aquaculture in coastal Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, Humboldt County, California, and southeastern Alaska. Featuring Oysters paird thoughtfully with Cider and Wine on Sunday, September 10th at 4pm at Wrangletown Cider, 955 I street in Arcata.
