Pageant at the Playhouse

Arcata Playhouse

Pageant is back! We are bringing our long-standing Pageant tradition to the Arcata Playhouse. Children 9-15 are invited to join us for two weeks of learning, playing, and creating. The classes aim to build physical theater skills and ensemble-building foundations. The students will cultivate their creativity and find ways to express themselves, as they learn to use their bodies in relationships with others and the space. The classes will be held outside, with the students and faculty wearing masks and respecting social distancing. Classes will be on stilt walking, movement, mask and puppet building, story-building, and processional music. The workshop will culminate in a public procession and outdoor spectacle performance on Friday, July 23, time TBD. We are able to offer some partial and full scholarships.
