Join the Gyppo Ale Mill and Shelter Cove CERT on Monday September the 23rd from 3-6PM for our weekly Pints 4 Nonprofits fundraiser. Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT’s)are formed by members of a neighborhood or workplace who want to be better prepared for the hazards that threaten their communities. Initially, CERT programs were developed to assist communities in taking care of themselves in the aftermath of a major disaster when first responders are overwhelmed or unable to respond because of communication or transportation difficulties. As the CERT concept has taken hold across the country, however, CERT’s have become much more than originally envisioned. CERT’s have proven themselves to be an active and vital part of the communities’ preparedness and response capability. Shelter Cove’s Community Emergency Response Team will be conducting a CERT Basic Course starting on Saturday, 5 October. The class is free and is conducted by our dedicated team of trainers: Cheryl Antony, Medic 1 — Shellie Mendes, Evan Piercey, Susie CERT and members of our amazing Fire Department. Each pint of beer purchased between the event hours, the Gyppo Ale Mill will donate $2 to Shelter Cove CERT. If you can’t make it during the event hours, not to fret! Gyppo also provide tins on each table through the entire event, if you so desire to make an additional donation!
