Poppo & Baloney and the Dream Circus

The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is excited to present an original puppet show on April 18-20th. “Poppo & Baloney and the Dream Circus” follows the adventures of a young boy named Poppo and his imaginary turtle friend Baloney. The story is told by a multidimensional cast of puppets, dancers, and live musicians. It features work by Sanctuary artist residents in collaboration with students of Del’Arte, as well as local artists and musicians. The performance is a collage of words, movement, music, and visual effects. Sculptural puppets are animated by live actors, projectors and lights create a shifting atmosphere, and a live soundtrack played on piano, organ, upright bass, and trombone will underscore the action with music composed for this story. The Sanctuary’s Great Hall will be activated as a stage with audience members set up on three sides, surrounding the action. This is a theatre piece intended for audiences of all ages, offering as much for adults as it does for children. After the performance there will be interactive art stations for the audience to engage with each other, the circus stage, and the circus acts. “All things are possible with a little make-believe and your imaginary friend. Experience Poppo and Baloney’s struggles and triumphs as they imagine for themselves a journey to the Highly Fantastical Magnificent Utterly Bamboozling Dream Circus!!”
