Proactive or Reactive Supering

See Event Description

The June meeting of the Humboldt County Beekeepers Association has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM due to a scheduling conflict with our guest speaker. Please note this is the second Thursday of June, not our usual date.

This will be a Zoom meeting, and we’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Dewey Caron as our featured speaker. Dr. Caron will present “Proactive or Reactive Supering – How Do You Manage?”, exploring the art and science of supering. Supering, or adding a super box to a beehive, provides bees with additional space to store honey and can help prevent swarming. It’s crucial to add a super at the right time, ideally before a strong nectar flow, and to monitor the colony to ensure they are utilizing the new space effectively. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with Dr. Caron, so bring your questions!
