Probability Paradoxes: A Public Lecture

See Event Description

Mathematician/Entrepreneur To Give Invited Lecture Probability Paradoxes is the title of a free public lecture to be given Thursday October 25 by Silicon Valley mathematician Alon Amit. Probability theory is often at odds with human intuition. During the lecture various elementary paradoxes will be presented. These counterintuitive conundrums have crept into scientific research, executive boardrooms, and the courts, often with dramatic results. Amit will give the lecture at Humboldt State University this Thursday, October 25, at 7:30 pm in Founders Hall room 118. This is the 72nd Kieval Lecture, a semi-annual lecture presented by the Humboldt State University Department of Mathematics. Lectures include topics on popular or broad aspects of mathematics and are designed for a general public audience. More information about the lecture, contact the HSU Department of Mathematics, or navigate to http://www2.humboldt.edu/math/news-and-events/kieval-lecture
