Quilt Bed Turning Event
The Clarke Museum is proud to host a bed turning event on Saturday, August 17th starting at noon. What is a “bed turning”? Often held at quilt shows and guild meetings, quilters perform bed turnings to share stories about quilts and their experience of making them. Several quilts will be placed on a bed, stacked on top of one another. As the top quilt is removed, a story is shared about the history or style of that quilt. A bed turning is an opportunity to learn about the quilts, as well as the stories stitched in them.
Redwood Empire Quilters Guild members Susie Freese and Cheryl Pekar will be performing the bed turning this Saturday at the Clarke Historical Museum. This free and family friendly event will start at noon. Come by to ask questions and learn about quilting in Humboldt County.
