Join the Humboldt Grange as we welcome Jerry Rohde and his Pierson’s sponsored history presentation Railroad! 2014 marks the 100th Anniversary of the completion of Northwestern Pacific Railroad, which connected San Francisco and Humboldt bays, and made it into its eighties before shutting down. This presentation will look at the construction and the striking scenery through which it passed. Other topics will include other local lines, both built and un-built, including the Annie & Mary; the spiteful Humboldt Northern and its ironic successor, the Hammond Railroad; Heney’s “Horsepower” track, which went around (not through) Table Bluff; and the biggest bluff of all, the never built Humboldt & Eastern. Don’t be left at the station!
