Resonance - Sound Healing, Yoga and Dance Retreat

Heartwood Institute

RESONANCE: Celebrating the Transformative Power of Sound with Marjo Lak and Bruce Burger is back June 30 – July 2 at Heartwood Institute! Based on a highly successful 2016 session, RESONANCE: Celebrating the Transformative Power of Sound with Marjo Lak and Bruce Burger is back June 30 – July 2 at Heartwood Institute. Sound healing has been used for thousands of years, in civilizations across the globe, to bring balance to our life. RESONANCE incorporates these myriad traditions in a weekend-long festival of intentional healing. Whether you’re looking to enrich your personal healing or want to develop tools to expand your healing practice, RESONANCE has the courses you crave. New and returning instructors offer expanded workshops that nourish your mind, body, and spirit through sound, movement and play. Resonance: Celebrating the Transformative Power of Sound with Marjo Lak and Bruce Burger is a two-day journey deep into relaxation and rejuvenation, integrating healing modalities to align your chakras and restore balance in your life. The retreat, held at the sustainably landscaped Heartwood Institute among the rolling hills of Southern Humboldt, includes Sound Baths, Gong Puja, Sonic Mandala Meditation, Mantra Yoga, Hatha and Restorative Yoga, Pranic Sound Bath and Chakra Balancing, Organic Vegetarian Cuisine and more. Through an array of aural accents, chanting, and locomotion, we will rattle your spirit and tune your soul! The roster of professionals leading you on your RESONANCE journey is impressive. Marjo Lak is a Certified Acutonics Practitioner and DJ. Her Sound Healing sessions use tuning forks, chimes, crystal bowls, bells, drums, Alchemy Crystal Bowls, Tibetan bowls, rattles and more. She is often accompanied by her husband, Andy B. playing crystal bowls, water drums and other instruments. Andy, an accomplished musician in his own right, is leader of the much beloved band Cold Blue Water. Bruce Burger has devoted his entire life to understanding and facilitating human potential. He has been teaching spiritual healing and transformational bodywork through Polarity Energy Balancing on a daily basis since 1977. He is the founder of Heartwood Institute and his book, Esoteric Anatomy: The Body As Consciousness, has been called a bible of energy healing. April Martin, co-creator of Om Shala Yoga in Arcata, brings a profoundly transformational experience to the practice of yoga. Jodie DiMinno is a birth worker, healer, and teacher of deep rest. deStina leads sound healing circles and meditations in Colombia and Brazil. Chris BOA (aka Chris Noonan) is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ. His sound healing sessions ground the nervous system through the use of flutes, didgeridoo, drums, crystal bowls and planetary gongs. Kaliyani Shakti is an Ordained Priestess of the Divine Mother of 10,000 Names. She expresses her devotion through the art of yoga, tantra, dance, theta and womb healing. Terra Pearson channels the sound of wind in trees and moving water through her gong’s healing frequencies. Joan Richards is a KRI certified kundalini yoga instructor schooled in Anusara yoga. On Saturday, July 1, at 8pm, RESONANCE throws an alcohol-free Dance Celebration with some of Humboldt’s top DJs. Performers include DJ Marjo Lak, a key player in the Humboldt Electronic Music scene, who makes the dance floor sizzle with the energetic, greasy textures of house music influenced by deep house, techno, indie and nu-disco. BRIAN HARTMAN, one of the leaders in the underground West Coast music scene, provides a heartbeat of deep, dubby, ethno house to finely selected hip hop, reggae and dancehall. Mr. 415 likes to sprinkle his House music sets with Moombahton, Hip-Hop, Trap, Glitch, and Techno. DJ CopperTon3, a member of Humboldt’s thriving electronic/dance music scene, fuses his vision of community, love and respect into feel good dance music. And in a performance only available at the RESONANCE Dance Celebration, special guest Chris BOA accompanies the DJs on Tenor and Baritone sax, Flutes and even the Shanai. His intricate and elevating horn lines combine with the bass thumping house music to create a truly magical experience. The event also includes a live kombucha bar by It’s Alive Kombucha and live painting by visionary and healing artist Katie Rose. The alcohol-free Dance Celebration is open to the public and tickets are $20 at the door. RESONANCE is currently offering limited time early-bird registration so reserve your spot now. A limited amount of tickets are available for $180 until May 31 (if they last that long). From June 1 to June 16, tickets prices are $280. After that, drop-in/door prices are $330.
