Restoration Forestry Hike
Please join Sanctuary Forest on September 30 for our last hike of the season, the Restoration Forestry Hike, led by Sanctuary Forest’s Galen Doherty, as well as Tim Metz of Restoration Forestry and Jared Gerstein of BBW Associates – Consulting Forestry and Environmental Analysis Specialists. This year’s hike will be deep in the headwaters of the Mattole River along the watershed divide with the South Fork Eel’s Indian Creek sub-basin. We will be touring an active timber harvest plan on property recently conserved by Sanctuary Forest through the Lost Coast Redwood and Salmon Initiative. Attendees will get a firsthand look at how sustainable, restorative forestry is conducted for profit on this working forest conservation easement property. Meet at 10am at the Sanctuary Forest office in Whitethorn. Please bring a lunch, water, and sturdy shoes. This is a group excursion, and participants are asked to stay together at all times. The hike is free of charge, though donations are gladly accepted and help Sanctuary Forest offer this program year after year. For questions or clarifications, contact anna@sanctuaryforest.org, or call 986-1087 x 9#. Hope to see you there!
