Simon reading from his new novel The Dolphin Ambassador’s Daughter (a PEN/America Literary Award finalist), featuring performances by and with WINTER BAND (NorCal supergroup of rotating members) and SERAFIMA (Seattle, “electrifying classic elements of The Golden Age of Radio, honky tonk, and Russian folk”).

Simon’s debut novel THE DOLPHIN AMBASSADOR’S DAUGHTER is a green fable in the vein of Watership Down, Animal Farm, The Lord of the Rings, and The Odyssey, and is inspired by language-rich fiction from the likes of Chinua Achebe, Louise Erdrich, and Toni Morrison. Set in the hidden depths of our world, THE DOLPHIN AMBASSADOR’S DAUGHTER is the epic story of an Orca who wants to start a war against the Humans, and a Dolphin who is determined to prevent one. The novel deals with the pursuit of political change through violent or nonviolent means; with prejudice, genocide, and the intergenerational trauma inflicted by industrial human civilization on all life.
