Samba Drumming Workshop

HLOC’s The Space

Samba da Alegria and Samba do Mar Humboldt are brining guest teacher, Bomani Pierre, to town this coming weekend!
He will be accompanying samba dance classes at the Latin Dance Festival and teaching us a Samba drumming workshop on Sunday 9/27 12:30-2:30pm at HLOC!

Bomani is an Afro-Brazilian percussionist, educator, and Bateria Director for Casa Samba in New Orleans - the oldest samba school in the US. He has been immersed in Afro-Brazilian music since the age of three and teaching since age nine. Bomani has trained under Jorge “Alabe” Bezerra and studied Bahian rhythms with Mestre Marcio Peeter since childhood. He has performed with renowned groups in Brazil such as Salgueiro, Os Negões, and Ilê Aiyê, the oldest and most legendary Afro-Brazilian carnival group (bloco afro) in Salvador, Bahia.

We hope you will join us for this all-levels class. Drums provided. Beginners welcome!
