Saturday Speaker Series: Patrick O’Rourke
Date & Time: Saturday, February 1st, 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Location: Humboldt County Library, Eureka Branch
Admission: Free
Join the Clarke Historical Museum, Humboldt County Historical Society, and Humboldt County Library for an engaging presentation by Patrick O’Rourke, Historian and Lab Director at Cal Poly Humboldt’s Cultural Resources Facility.
Patrick brings a unique perspective, blending his formal training in cultural history—focused on the Soviet Union and postwar United States—with his hands-on experience in archaeology and cultural resource management. At the Cultural Resources Facility, Patrick supervises the identification, cataloging, and interpretation of historic artifacts, conducts field surveys across northern California, and mentors undergraduate students.
This presentation stems from Patrick’s work with a collection of historic logging equipment at Fort Humboldt Historic State Park, a project that deepened his passion for local logging history and lore. Join us for an in-depth exploration of Humboldt’s rich logging heritage through the lens of archaeology and storytelling.
