Sixth Annual Fruit Tree Scion Exchange

Bayside Community Hall

Join us on Saturday February 9th for Humboldt Permaculture Guild’s Sixth Annual Fruit Tree Scion Exchange! Experienced fruit growers and general public are welcome and invited to share quality graft wood (also known as scion) as well as roots and shoots of all fruit producing plants. The event will feature workshops, grafting demonstrations and root stock vendors. For those planning to bring scion to share, here are some tips for collecting scion: -Cut only past year’s growth (no wood older than one year). -Store in plastic bag with moistened paper in dark and cool location -Label well (variety, location growing, original source, taste, when ripe). -Asian plums/pears and peaches wake up first so cut these as soon as possible. -Apples and European pears and plums can be cut a week or so before the exchange. Want to help with our Scion Exchange? The Humboldt Permaculture Guild relies on active participation from people like you to bring you these events.
