Summer at the Sanctuary

The Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is happy to bring back our summertime fundraising favorite, Summer at the Sanctuary, on Saturday June 17th! The origins of Summer at the Sanctuary lie with Sean Pitney (aka Brother Sean), our wonderful school-teaching, beer-brewing neighbor. Sean has been helping host this event for 3 years running, in honor of school teacher’s enormous efforts and the beginning of their well-earned summer vacation. This year, teachers get in for free(!) and all proceeds from this fundraising event go to the Sanctuary.

From 6 to 10 pm, the doors will be open, with a spread of food coming out of the kitchen, beer, soda and kombucha from Sean, and special summertime popcorn made by another stellar Sanctuary neighbor, Jess Arnold. The Great Hall will be cleared of pews for dancing, and we’ll be spinning early dance records from the Brooks Otis Collection. At 8, house swingster’s Midnight Band Practice will serenade dancers, before Portland-based Americana band Will Layng & the Ribs do the same. We’re looking forward to another celebratory Summer at the Sanctuary!
