SECRET DRUM BAND is a noise & percussion ensemble featuring drummers Lisa Schonberg (explode into colors), Sara Lund (unwound), Allan Wilson (!!!), Heather Treadway (EIC) and Anthony Brisson (psychomagic), and tonal/noise musicians Alison Clarys and Sam Humans. Schonberg’s compositions for the ensemble are often place-based explorations of soundscapes, ecology, and movement. SDB also performs songs written by Wilson, Treadway and Schonberg for their trio HITS (of Sunshine). The five percussionists rotate through setups of drums, electronics, found percussion and handmade instruments while Clarys & Humans process voice, guitar, lapsteel, and field recordings to build an ambient nest of sound.
The Sanctuary’s very own Midnight Band Practice
will present a set of classic swing tunes and dancing. Midnight Band Practice is a collaboration between neighbors in and around the Sanctuary to bring back to life the nostalgic sound of 20’s and 30’s jazz
