20th Annual BridgeFest
Celebrate with Earthlings and Aliens! Need to escape the fog and head toward the warm inland sun and refreshing river scenes? Saturday, August 20 is the time to gather up your human family, friends and any alien relatives and come up to the 20TH BridgeFest on the old historic bridge in Bridgeville. The event is from 10:00am to 5:00pm so drive up in the morning along the Van Duzen River on Highway 36 through redwoods, firs, scattered meadows and spectacular scenery to Bridgeville on Mile 24. About there you will see the old bridge, but also notice the illusionary huge yellow circle spread high up on the mountainside to the south of you. What you see is the spaces reserved for interplanetary friends to land and live while attending BridgeFest’s “Annual Alien and Human Games”. You can watch or enter the games too! There is the Intergalactic Flying Saucer Trials coming off the old bridge. Check out the new rules for the trials at www.bridgevllecommunitycenter.com. Then wear something crazy! and enter the Alien/Human Celestial Costume Contest for best dressage. Or use your muscles and strength to muster through the obstacle course holding a bag of soil to become “the Biggest Dirt Bag of The Day” and win a pallet of soil. Ongoing merriment includes continuous local live music with The Knights of Van Duzen, Melange, StillWater, Attila and Friends and other artists. For 20 years the Bridgeville Community Center has held its universally legendary fundraising Raffle at BridgeFest, partnering with local earthly businesses to produce some fantastic prizes, the famous Homemade Bridgeville Quilt, a $300 shopping Spree and $300 cash! Our Mr. BridgeFest will continuously announce winners throughout the day. Be One! If you want, sit, rest and watch the crowds of 200-400 extraordinary humans and aliens. Then get up and explore the more than 30 craft vendor booths spread across the old bridge and into town. Partake of a carnivorous BBQ put on by the Bridgeville Fire Department and a Galaxy of Bridgeville Homemade Pies and Goodies just waiting to be eaten. There is a Kidz Zone where for the first time there will be a Little Castle Inflatable for small children/alienettes and a larger 40’ Inflatable obstacle course for larger forms. Of course, all aliens must go through a special class to learn to jump with gravity before entering these objects. Free parking for UFOs and Vehicles. Sorry, no Dogs allowed. Handicap access. www.bridgevillecommunitycenter.org
