The 51st Humboldt Int’l Film Fest

Hello! This is an invitation: The 51st Humboldt Int’l Film Fest (HIFF) is taking place at The Minor Theatre in Arcata, CA. The dates of the festival are April 18th-21st, 2018 with 5 and 7:30pm screenings happening each night. Tickets are available online or in person at: www.minortheatre.com More information about the festival: http://hsufilmfestival.com Screening Schedule: Animation & Experimental 4/18 $5 Documentary 4/19 $5 Narrative 4/20 $5 Best of Fest 4/21 $10 HIFF has been bringing independent films from around the world to Humboldt County for 51 years.

From 1967 to present, we–the students of Humboldt State University–have been inviting filmmakers (working in traditional, experimental and non-traditional modes) to enter their film shorts into our festival and that makes us the world’s oldest student-run film festival. Our students judge the entries from September to March. The finalists then show for three evenings for our guest industry judges and local audience.
Our festival promotes the art of film, not only as a means of entertainment, but also as a vehicle for self-expression and a stimulus for dialogue about social, political and cultural issues.
