Date: Saturday, November 2, 2024
Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: Clarke Historical Museum, 240 E St, Eureka, CA 95501
Join us at the Clarke Historical Museum during November’s Arts Alive as we showcase the incredible work of local Indigenous artists Melitta Jackson and Marlette Grant-Jackson!
About the Artists
Melitta and Marlette, a Yurok daughter and mother team from Humboldt County, draw inspiration from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and their Indigenous culture. Melitta’s illustrations, often crafted with watercolor, gouache, and ink, reflect the serene beauty of the natural world. Marlette complements this with digital designs that infuse cultural elements into their art, while also working with pastels.
The daughter and mother team are both Cal Poly Humboldt alumni, where they also currently work. Melitta serves as a Resource Sharing and Information Specialist in the library, and Marlette advises the Indian Tribal Education Personnel Program. Both are pursuing master’s degrees in the Environment and Community Program, bringing their passions for nature and community into their art.
Explore Their Art
Melitta and Marlette’s collaborative work strikes a perfect balance of tradition and modernity. Prints, mugs, cards, and even blankets featuring their designs will be available for purchase at the museum, or you can explore their collection on Etsy.
Come support local talent and immerse yourself in a creative blend of nature, culture, and art!
Admission: Free and open to the public during Arts Alive.
We look forward to seeing you for an evening of art, history, and culture at the Clarke Historical Museum!
