The Extraordinary Voyage of Kamome: A Tsunami Boat Comes Home
Friday, November 20th at 7 p.m., Northtown Books welcomes Lori Dengler and Amya Miller to read their new book “The Extraordinary Voyage of Kamome: A Tsunami Boat Comes Home”. This children’s book, beautifully illustrated by Arcata artist Amy Uyeki, tells the true story of a small boat swept away by the March 2011 Japan tsunami that was found two years later in Crescent City. Through the efforts of a group of Del Norte High School students, the boat was returned to the high school that lost it, linking two small cities on opposite sides of the Pacific. The authors and illustrator Amy Uyeki will sign copies of the book, and illustrations will be on display.
