The Handshakers
Music is back at Wrangletown with our very talented friends from The Handshakers! Thursday, August 29th at 5pm! Come down for an early evening of songs and good cheer. All ages welcome! The Handshakers’ Americana/alt-country music revolves around the ensemble sound of a sultry electric guitar, Bynum’s driving acoustic rhythm guitar and Aleister Paige’s atmospheric pedal steel guitar. The quartet lives in Arcata, located on Northern California’s redwood coast. The group’s sound and songs have a cinematic feel, emotion pouring through memorable lyrics. The simple, elegant melodies of Bynum and Paige are complemented by the steady, subtle grooves of electric bassist Gary Davidson and drummer Paul DeMark. Davidson currently plays with Humboldt bands Home Cookin’ and Old Dog. He has toured with Christine Lakeland, an integral part of J.J. Cale’s Band. DeMark plays with the longtime Humboldt band The Delta Nationals. He has toured with Chicago blues legends Sunnyland Slim and Hubert Sumlin, as well as Mike Bloomfield and Texas bluesman Albert Collins. The band began recording its first album of all-original material in January 2018 and is expecting a release later this year. The recordings are being produced by Marc Jeffares with Ryan Roberts engineering.
