The Handshakers at Wrangletown Cider Co.
This Friday, the 27th at Wrangletown. They’re back again! The Handshakers band with special guest Georgia Ruth Hellum-Willits will play Wrangletown Cider on Sept. 27 and Westhaven Center for the Arts on Sept. 28. The five-piece, Arcata-based group will play Wrangletown from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be no cover charge at the outdoor venue located on Ninth Street in Arcata’s Creamery District. Hellum-Willits released her debut album of original songs, “Life Worth Living,” in 2018. The band released its self-titled debut album of all-original Americana-styled material in January. The Handshakers’ Americana music revolves around the ensemble sound of acoustic guitarist/singer Mike Bynum’s acoustic rhythm guitar, Aleister Paige’s pedal steel guitar and Barney Doyle’s electric guitar. The melodies played by the threesome are complemented by the grooves of a veteran Humboldt rhythm section: electric bassist Gary Davidson and drummer Paul DeMark.
