The Intima {pdx, post-punk} + Dragged by Horses

The Miniplex at Richards’ Goat Tavern

The Intima is a four-piece post-punk band that formed in 1999 in Portland, Oregon and Olympia, Washington, carving out a unique sonic space that was “aggressively-beautiful and poetic”. They were suspicious of nostalgia and commercialism, channeling the chaos and intensity of the early 2000s post-9/11 era with a fierce, unapologetic energy.

Known for their urgent, jagged, and melodic sound featuring a violin in place of a typical guitar, the band has shared stages with acts like The Rapture and The Mekons. Their live performances were known for being unhinged, sometimes featuring illegal street gigs and equipment catching fire.

A quote from Hugh McElroy of Dischord group Black Eyes perfectly encapsulates their sound: “…a really aggressively-beautiful and poetic punk band with a violin where a guitar normally would be… pushing genre barriers…”.

Opening the night is Humboldt’s own Dragged By Horses.

Bar opens at 8pm. Music after 8:30pm. 21+
