If you’re looking for a night of entertainment to remember, whether you want to dance or just enjoy a cocktail and listen to great music, look no further than the James Zeller Trio at Phatsy Kline’s October 5th! The trio’s repertoire is an exciting mix of swinging Jazz and timeless American Songbook classics from the 1920’s-50’s, New Orleans and Trad Jazz, classic country, blues and folk. Zeller, who spent 17 years as a professional musician in NYC and now calls Humboldt home when not traveling with his band, puts on a show with his heartfelt vocals and songs in endless styles and tasteful trombone solos. He also plays piano and rhythm guitar. Multi-instrumentalist Daniel Nickerson plays guitar and piano, sings background and occasionally takes a lead vocal. Lee Phillips is on upright bass. Having spent 4 1/2 years as the house bandleader at the elegant cocktail lounge “Bar Pleiades”, part of Cafe Boulud in NYC, and also years playing swing dances with artists from Gordon Webster to The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn, Zeller brings the best of both worlds to his show. But stylistically this group goes beyond category, as comfortable playing a classic country tune or a cajun flavored dance number as they are playing Cole Porter. Catch them while they’re in town, you won’t be disappointed!
