The Page Turners
A fascinating young bluegrass (Freshgrass, according to the festival they’ve taken 2017 honors at) duo, The Page Turners will be coming to the Bayside Community Hall this week. As part of a campaign to raise money for a new roof for the venerable building, the Community Hall will be welcoming these fresh new faces to their series of Kitchen Koncerts. Through studies with masters such as Bruce Molsky, Maeve Gilchrist, David Wallace and Matt Glaser, The Page Turners are learning how to introduce elements of what seem to be almost a jazz-like abstraction to a music that seems very familiar. The same high lonesome vocal sound is there, the mandolin chop and double stops on the fiddle but it’s slightly twisted in a very appealing way that the tradition would embrace wholeheartedly. The Page Turners are reinventing bluegrass music and it’s a beautiful thing. Music starts a little after 7, door open a little before. Refreshments and good company will be available.
