TIMBATA is a 7-piece Afro-Cuban band based in Humboldt County, known for creating a highly danceable sound with a deep rhythmic groove. The band members include Gary Davidson on bass, Howie Kaufman on Steelpan & Percussion, Matt McClimon on keyboards, Nick Moore on Guitar, Eugene Novotney on Steelpan, Michael Stephenson on Drumset, and David Peñalosa on Percussion.

Folkloric Afro-Cuban rhythmic sensibilities guide the bands arrangements and overall sound, and the repertoire played by Timbata includes music from Cuba, Africa, Brasil, the Caribbean, and the United States.
