Join Redwood Region Audubon Society and field trip leader Ken Burton on Sunday, September 25 for an all-day exploration of the Titlow Hill/Forest Service Route 1 area. This area is Humboldt’s premier montane birding locale but is not visited much at this time of year; let’s see what we can find! Potential species of interest include Mountain Quail, Sooty Grouse, White-headed Woodpecker, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Hammond’s Flycatcher, Mountain Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, House Wren, Townsend’s Solitaire, MacGillivray’s Warbler, Chipping Sparrow, Green-tailed Towhee, and Cassin’s Finch. Meet in front of Pepper’s on Valley West Boulevard in Arcata at 8:00 a.m. to carpool or at the base of Titlow Hill Road at 8:45 a.m. Contact Ken at 707-499-1146 or shrikethree[at]gmail.com for further information.
