Trinidad Art Night
Saturday 5-8 pm. Trinidad Art Night!
Presented by Forbes & Associates - Sarah Corliss; produced by Westhaven Center for the Arts.
Here’s a little description of some places you might enjoy in Trinidad Saturday!
Artist Mira Eagle will be painting live in the Trinidad Civic Clubroom *(1-8pm), offering live drawings of pets from photos, that customers can pick up before they leave the event; there you may be enticed by the jazzy music of Tim Randles and Ken Lawrence wafting in from Trinidad Town Hall where artists Rueben Mayes and John Bumgarner will be sharing their work.
Skate ramps will be ready to go across the street at Trinidad School, and keep your eyes open for Happy Sloth Food Truck: Costa Rican coffee, crepes and more!
The nearby Trinidad Art Gallery celebrates the work of watercolor painter Carolyn Cook and ceramicist Elaine Shore. Enjoy snacks, and a wine pour benefiting Trinidad Coastal Land Trust, plus the chance to meet many of the gallery’s 25 local artists. Also, find a cozy exhibit of Zak Shea’s art constructed from found-wood, and a great wine tasting opportunity at Moonstone Crossing. The Trinidad Eatery and Gallery is continuing to fund raise for the Trinidad Schools Education Foundation, and you can support the foundation with the purchase of a raffle ticket to win a piece of art as you enjoy a meal, drink or an oyster or two on their patio.
Meanwhile The Triple Tones, w/ Elmer Carson will be down at the harbor, where you can hear them jamming on classic rock and country tunes as you check out the vendors next to the Seascape Restaurant and Pier, open for meals with a view!
At our main Saunders Park East Bandstand the Bayou Swamis will provide their own unique zydeco dance music; there you can enjoy live painting by Antoinette Toni Magyar or homemade ice-cream and a photography exhibit by Dan Wells at the Lighthouse Grill. Or, have some pizza and fest your eyes on the vibrant artwork of Joe Mallory at Heddie’s, or perhaps consider having your face painted by Jade Bambo!
Be sure to check out the Trinidad Museum Society’s exhibit, Shaped & Woven-Enduring Connections with Stone, Fiber & Beadwork, which includes some new acquisitions to the museum’s collection. Their new Heritage Room exhibit, Trinidad Whaling Station 1920-1927 is curated by Cal-Poly Intern Jonah Gilles. If you make this little trek, be sure to check out the flower gardens on the way. This is where you will find the Secret Club -performing rock tunes in an Americana folk style!
