Trio Duende Mainstage Concert

Calvary Lutheran Church

The Eureka Chamber Music Series presents its first set of concerts in 2024 beginning on Saturday, January 13th featuring Trio Duende at 7:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Eureka. Repertoire for the evening will include works by Brahms and Beethoven, including the Beethoven “Ghost” trio. The next day, on Sunday, January 14th at 3:00 in the afternoon, a special Concert & Conversation will again feature the Trio, where a fresh set of musical offerings will be interspersed with insights about making music coming directly from the artists.

Trio Duende is a piano trio including violinist and Eureka Chamber Music Series artistic director Tom Stone, Avery Fisher Career award-winning cellist Sophie Shao, and Naumberg award-winning pianist Awadagin Pratt. The name “Duende”, inspired by Gabriel Garcia Lorca’s writing on the subject, is meant to represent the indescribable in art and the human experience. ECMS artistic director Tom Stone and pianist Awadagin Pratt met as teenagers and formed a bond usually reserved for brothers. Cellist Sophie Shao is the perfect partner for the trio, bringing her own fire and force of will to the mix.

Mainstage Concert tickets are $40 general and $10 for students. Concert and Conversation tickets are $20 general and $5 for students. Tickets will be available at the door, but they may also be purchased in advance by following the links on www.eurekachambermusic.org, or by searching the Eureka Chamber Music Series Collection on Eventbrite.
