Unemployment Insurance for Employers: Appeals, Responding to Notices, and the Effect of Claims on Tax Rates TOPIC This presentation will cover the nuts and bolts of unemployment insurance appeals, employer responses to EDD notices, unemployment insurance taxes, and tax rates. We will include tips to assist employers on how to respond appropriately to an unemployment insurance claim. SPEAKER Peter Wercinski has been an administrative law judge with the San Francisco Office of Appeals of the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board since 2004. In that position, he conducts hearings of appeals and petitions from determinations, rulings, and assessments of the California Employment Development Department regarding unemployment, state disability, and tax matters
