“Urinetown” by Greg Kotis

NCRT

North Coast Repertory Theatre is proud to present its spring production of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Urinetown, opening May 9th and running through June 8th, 2025. With biting satire, catchy tunes, and a storyline that’s both absurd and all-too-relevant, Urinetown takes audiences on a hilarious ride through a dystopian world where water is scarce and even a bathroom break comes at a cost. Some content not suitable for younger audiences.
This bold production is directed by Nanette Voss, who also leads the musical direction, with Isabel Semler assisting in direction and Shawn Wagner providing sharp, inventive choreography. Stage management is handled by Ivy Carter, with Caleb Bartlett and Kyler Robbins as assistant stage managers. The creative design team includes Calder Johnson as scenic and property design. Lighting design is by Spike Foster, sound design by Blue Waites, and costumes are created by Taylor DePew. The production features a talented ensemble of performers including David Powell, Jessi Sheiman, River Keller, Alex Blouin, Tina Toomata, Lily Herlihy, Curtis Harder, Jo Kuzelka, Filip Ambroski, Meaghan Sharrard, Mychal Evenson, Mollie Ranario, Rigel Schmitt, Holly Couling, Brandy Rose, Sam Pietanza, and Gianne Lee. Together, this dynamic cast brings to life the rich, satirical world of Urinetown, balancing comedy, chaos, and social commentary with energy and heart.
Live music is performed by an outstanding band featuring Justin Ross on keyboard, Matt Eastabrook on drums, Jeremy Cotton on reeds, Gina Piazza on horn, and Amber Grimes on bass—bringing the score to life with vibrant and engaging sound.
