Volunteer Event

See Event Description

The North Coast Redwoods District of the California State Parks invites the public to join Natural Resource volunteers for a habitat restoration volunteer event. Meet at the Mussel Rock parking lot; park entry is free for volunteers. We will be removing invasive species including English ivy and pampas grass from the beautiful Sitka spruce forests. Next to habitat loss, invasive non-native species are the greatest threat to maintaining natural diversity. Removing invasive species is a moderate activity and participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes for walking off trail, a hat, work gloves, and bring water. We have extra gloves and tools for volunteers. Work locations are less than a ½ mile hike from the trailhead. All participants will receive one free day use pass to Patrick’s Point State Park. All ages welcome! Heavy winds or rain will cancel the event.
