‘Wearable’ exhibition closing reception

College of the Redwoods

The College of the Redwoods Art Gallery will present an exhibition of contemporary jewelry and metal work from local artists and instructors Tova Lund and Justin Klocke, titled Wearable. This exhibition will run from January 20 through February 5. A public reception will be held at the gallery February 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tova Lund is an instructor of Jewelry at CR. Tova will present a series of sculptural jewelry using found and collected local objects. The function of the jewelry, possibly negated by the size and weight of materials, explores feelings of either power or powerlessness. Justin Klocke is an instructor of Jewelry at Humboldt State University. Justin will present new pieces in a body of work that simultaneously explore excessiveness and minimalism. The repeated use of planar surfaces in steel and sterling silver create a dialogue about luxury, value, and order. The CR Art Gallery is located in the Creative Arts Complex on the Eureka Main Campus, via the North Entrance. The Gallery is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, please phone the division office at (707) 476-4559.
