Wetland Restoration & Grass Identification Tour

Freshwater Farms Reserve

Join Northcoast Regional Land Trust’s Projects & Stewardship Director Kerry McNamee on a walk through Freshwater Farms Reserve to learn about the native grass restoration project being undertaken at the pasture onsite. Discussion will include the opportunities and challenges of this type of restoration and how to create a balanced wild and working landscape. The group will also learn how to identify California native grasses and have an opportunity to help monitor the success of the project using vegetation transects. If there is time, we will also pull invasive grasses! Please park in the parking lot past the farm stand (on right hand side if going south). Walk will start from the parking lot and will tour the 8 acre high brackish marsh restoration area. Please wear closed toe shoes, and bring your gloves if you’d like to pull out those pesky invasives! Rain or shine - severe weather cancels. No RSVP necessary. Families are encouraged.
