Where There’s a Willow There’s a Way: Restoration Event at Wood Creek

Freshwater Farms Reserve

The California Conservation Corps Watershed Stewards Program in partnership with AmeriCorps and Northcoast Regional Land Trust is hosting a restoration event at Freshwater Farms Reserve on Saturday, February 28th from 9:00am-2:00pm.

During this event, volunteers will be planting 100 native plants and creating willow fascines (bundles) to prevent erosion along the recently rerouted Wood Creek. This event is in support of NRLT’s Wood Creek Phase III Project aimed at improving habitat for salmonids. Willow fascines, bundles of willow stems, will be installed to reduce channeling and prevent sediment overloading in Wood Creek, keeping water clean for salmonids. Volunteers should wear long pants and sleeves, boots, sun-protection, and bring a water bottle. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. The event will conclude with a free raffle for volunteers including items like Sequoia Park Zoo tickets, Los Bagels baskets, and more.
