White Deer is an all star line-up of local homegrown talent, featuring members of Kindred Spirits, The Fickle Hillbillies, Crested Hens and other local Bluegrass and Americana groups. This stellar line-up combines the songwriting power of Kate Thurston-Stills and Sonny Rey Hawk, whose style has been compared to Waylon Jennings and the Beatles. The group is supported by a power-house rhythm section featuring Kim Kumada on upright bass, and Chris Appleton on Drums. Banjoist Brae Lewis rounds out the lineup with Bela Fleck-esque hot licks, and together White Deer is a true Humboldt music experience.
