Winter Tales - A Holiday Concert

Arkley Center For The Performing Arts

The Eureka Symphony invites the community to experience the warmth, wonder, and joy of the season at Winter Tales – A Holiday Concert, performed December 5 and 6, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Eureka.

This concert is sponsored by Redwood Legacy Group at Morgan Stanley.

This year’s holiday program is a festive journey through beloved classics and vibrant contemporary works. The concert features Tchaikovsky’s timeless Nutcracker Suite, and Michael Isaacson’s lively and colorful Rhythm of the Lights – A Chanukah Fantasia, a radiant musical celebration of light and tradition.

Perfect for families and music lovers of all ages, Winter Tales promises an evening of enchantment, elegance, and festive spirit that captures the heart of Humboldt’s holiday season.

A highlight of the evening will be Howard Blake’s The Snowman. Narration by local theater legend Michael Fields will add a heartfelt touch to the symphony’s performance of this cherished winter tale. Michael was a founding member and Producing Artistic Director of Dell’Arte International, and was a member of the Dell’Arte performing ensemble for 45 years. He co-authored, directed and performed in over 50 Dell’Arte productions and now has his own producing group called Longshadr.

Special guest 10-year-old Michaela Band, from Cutten School, will sing “Walking in the Air” during The Snowman.

Leslie Keig won the “Guest Conductor” auction package at the Symphony’s Gala, and will lead the Symphony in “Deck the Halls” as a sing-along.

Concert attendees are encouraged to sign up for the Eureka Symphony’s new Shuttle Program, a safe and easy way to get to and from the concerts. Visit the “Get Involved” page or call (707) 845-3655 for details. Sign up by November 26 to assure availability.

A free pre-concert talk, Musical Notes, by concertmaster Terrie Baune and pianist John Chernoff, is also at the Arkley Center from 6:30-7:00 pm, and is a fun and informative way to learn about the music and the composers.
