Woody Plants of Humboldt Bay Coastal Dune Ecosystems

See Event Description

Join ecologist Peter Warner for a free guided walk of the Samoa Dunes and Wetlands Conservation Area. This guided walk will provide an introduction to common woody plants – trees and shrubs – of the north coastal spit of Humboldt Bay. We’ll focus on methods to identify these plants, naming them with common (English) and Latin (scientific) names, as well as discussing ecology and indigenous utilitarian and medicinal uses for many of them. We’ll share in the delight of all the living and material discoveries awaiting us along the trails, in the midst of this unique coastal forest. Space is limited, send us an email at info@friendsofthedunes.org or call (707) 444-1397 to sign up!
