Young & Lovely Plays Jazz for Arts Alive at Mendenhall Studios

Young & Lovely is a jazz quintet featuring the singing Penner siblings, Devin, Elle, and Brianna Penner, along with stand up bassist, Nate Zwerdling and for this event, substitute drummer, Trevor Enright (usually on drums is Mike Labolle). This jazz band has been taking Humboldt County by storm since its inception in February of this year. They have played the Ingomar Club twice and are regularly featured at Septentrio Winery, The Wine Cellar, Old Growth Cellars, and Mazzotti’s. Their pianist and male vocalist, Devin Penner, played in the Marine Corps All-Stars Jazz Band for seven years and has been featured on NPR and national television. Young & Lovely plays jazz standards from America’s favorite songbook. The sisters enjoy engaging with the crowd and emulate such performers as Ella Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe, and Sarah Vaughan.
