The uniquely Humboldt Kinetic Grand Championship kicks off May 23rd-May 25th, but you just can’t have a Grand Championship without a Grand Queen! And you can’t crown a queen without having a Grand BALL!

So a ball we will have. On Saturday, May 16th at Eureka Theatre, join 2025 Queen Lucy Lips and a panel of highly qualified judges as they put the 2026 crown hopefuls through the ringer in a battle of wit, talent and general joie de vivre.

On Tuesday morning KHUM, KSLG and The Point were graced with Queen Lucy and two hopefuls — Gustav Waddlesworth III and Katastrophy — who outlined exactly what to expect from this grand event kicking off our season of kinetics!

To promote the family friendly feel this year, doors are at 6 p.m. and the ball starts at 7 p.m.! All proceeds go to fundraise for the race and kids 12 and under are FREE!
