TW: This interview contains mentions of sexual assaultThe Good Body by V (fka as Eve Ensler) is an exploration of how we move through the world in the face of society’s unrealistic beauty standards. From the author’s experiences to stories from women all over the world, the book gives us an in-depth look into life under the cruel microscope of other people’s perceptions and how we navigate the pain and emerge with newfound love for ourselves.

A local stage production of The Good Body is coming to the Arcata Playhouse and Eureka Woman’s Club this week as a benefit for The North Coast Rape Crisis Team.

Director, producer and actress Vanessa Vrtiak and actress Amber Van Dunk sat down with Sabina on KSLG to discuss the importance of mental health amidst the current scrutiny of bodies, aging and what we can do individually and as a community to uplift one another.
