Stupid Seagull Cuts Power to 3,500 Customers in Fortuna By Vaporizing Itself on Power Lines Outside the Local PG&E Service Center
A bird was responsible for cutting power to 3,500 customers in Fortuna today.
PG&E spokesperson Deanna Contreras told the Outpost that workers who responded to the scene of the outage found the remains of what appeared to be a seagull that made contact with two separate power lines, zapping itself and cutting the juice in the process.
PG&E crews didn’t have to travel far to restore the electricity, which went out at approximately 2:24 p.m., as the bird hit the lines directly outside of the PG&E Service Center on the 2700 block of Rohnerville Road.
“The safety of our customers, crews and the communities we serve is our most important responsibility,” Contreras said. “PG&E crews restored power to approximately 3,500 customers in Fortuna within 45 minutes after power was disrupted.”
