A Day Without (Disposable) Bags

Arcata uses three to five MILLION plastic bags a year? What the what?! Today’s Coastal Currents featured Humboldt Baykeeper’s Vanessa Vasquez and Humboldt Surfrider’s MJ Mazurek. Tomorrow is Day Without a (disposable) Bag. From 11AM – 1PM, Humblodt Baykeeper and Surfrider will have tables at four grocery stores in Humboldt asking shoppers to forgo disposable bags. According to an HSU study: “The amount of energy used for 3,000,000 bags is equal to over 1,000 one way trips to San Francisco in a 2010 Chevy Tahoe.”
