The internet thrives on conflict, so it should not surprise us that the above clip of CAT vs. DOG would be scooped up by the algorithmic gods for mass distribution. What makes LoCO feel inclined to mention this particular video, though, is that this viral showdown occurred on our pristine shores. As such, we are requiring you, Humboldt, to have an opinion on it. 

We will set the scene: Basil the Cat is out for her first beach stroll near what appears to be Trinidad. She is wearing a sleek, stylish pink leash and appears to be enjoying the space to roam.

That is, until an excited unleashed pooch saunters up from behind, prompting Basil’s human to pick her up in an attempt to avert potential disaster. To be fair, the dog does not seem overly aggressive — more curious, maybe. But Basil ain’t having it. The dog’s presence provokes Basil, who attempts to break free from her human’s arms, scratching a nearby boyfriend in the process. Now Basil’s owner is mad and she yells at the dog’s owners for not better controlling their animal.

And scene. That’s what you get to know about how this confrontation went down. And this content, if we are to believe TikTok’s statistics, was worth nearly 10 million views. Wonderful.

Basil’s owner would go on to post a followup video letting us know that our feline protagonist was, in fact, fine. The boyfriend? Less so. (You can watch that further down if you need to.)
