POLL! Would You Rather Your Drive From Humboldt to Crescent City Include a Tunnel or No Tunnel?
Caltrans is weighing possible permanent bypass solutions for the slide-prone Last Chance Grade section of Highway 101 in southern Del Norte County. One proposed solution — which you can read about in full detail here — would involve the construction of a 6,000-foot tunnel underneath old-growth redwood forest. The other option would include hulking retaining wall… but no tunnel.
