POLL! How Do You Plan to Vote on the California Proposition That Would Constitutionally Reaffirm the Right to Same-Sex Marriage?

First off, a big “a-thank ya” to everyone who allowed themselves to be drawn out to the joint LoCO/CalMatters “Beer and Ballot Measures” event at North of Fourth last week. We had fun! Somehow we managed to pack the house with democracy-curious souls eager to hash out some of the difficult-to-understand propositions on California’s November ballot. (Mostly we drank beer, though.)

Anyway, we’re gonna keep this learning train rolling. For the remainder of this week, LoCO is going to devote its oddly popular POLLZ feature to looking at some of the aforementioned props you’ll be asked to vote on in a couple of months. Thankfully, our comrades at CalMatters have produced some sleek, to-the-point videos to help us better understand what’s at stake come November, which will aid in this process. Take your medicine, Humboldt.

We’re gonna start off with an easy one: Proposition 3 would enshrine the right of same-sex couples to marry into the state constitution by repealing 2008’s Proposition 8. If you find yourself surprised that this is something we’d need to do in 2024, watch the video above for an explanation as to why Prop 3 proponents thought it important to place this on this cycle’s ballot. Then, scroll down to vote.
