POLL! What Do You Guys Think About This Reader-Submitted Plan to Thwart Porch Piracy Once and for All?
Image: ChatGPT
We have such great readers. Check out this suggestion sent to us this morning by a reader who we’re not yet sure if we’re allowed to name. (We’ll update when we know.)
Here it is:
Just a thought. Christmas is fast approaching. Fedex, UPS, etc., will be working overtime to deliver countless packages to countless homes. Porch pirates will be working overtime as well — ruining someone’s Christmas by stealing the gifts from their porch.
Here’s a thought: How about if everyone in Eureka taped up an empty box and set it by their front door. A typical pirate would try to steal the first box he saw only to find that it was empty. Duped. On to the next house. Duped again. He may try the third house … OK, they’re on to me. And away he would go to the next neighborhood. Same thing. Eventually he’d find an actual package with something in it, but it would be about one chance in (maybe) forty or fifty.
Maybe you guys could do an article about this and save someone from a disappointing Christmas.
Have a happy holiday.
We all love Humboldt, so we can admit amongst ourselves: Yes, porch piracy is a problem. So what do you think? Will this plan solve it, and will you implement it?
